Out of the Closet and Into the Looking Glass

Queen Alice is a full-length musical adaptation of Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll. This musical transforms the source material into a queer coming-of-age story, following an Alice who sets out to become a queen. On the way, Alice meets characters inspired by queer history, from the 1930s Weimar cabaret scene to 60s and 70s performance art, drag, and ballroom culture. In keeping with its queer street theatre roots, the score draws on the psychedelic sounds of San Francisco of the 1960s. Queen Alice will perform August 24th and 25th in San José.
